Long Weekend in the Mountains

With busy season at my new job, I don't have a lot of time to write about everything we did on our "Kleinbottwar Homies & Friends" weekend 2016 (our third annual!), but I will share a few pictures of the highlights, and due to less text, I will make the photos bigger than usual. Enjoy!

In the mountains, in the trees. We took part in the ropes course until a storm moved in,
then had to take the coaster down the mountain quickly before things got dangerous.


Here is how we got back down the mountain: Alpine Coaster Immenstadt (put it on mute and enjoy the ride!) We were told not to hit the breaks so we could save time, meaning I screamed my lungs out through the first few curves until I got used to it. But hey, careening down the mounain at 35 km per hour, we definitely beat the storm!

   It's Octoberfest season! What better way to celebrate than to buy myself the traditional garb: a bonafide dirndl. After making a trip to the local NKD department store and bartering with the cashier about a small, fixable mistake with the charm chain on the bodess, I bought this thing for just 30 Euro and rode home proudly with it in my little bike basket. And of course, I needed a better backdrop for you all than my living room, so I had a little fun with Photoshop. Happy Octoberfest!

Up the Alps, Down a "Bier"

Hello, Family! So, here we go... the first round of Alps photos! This first one is our view the morning we left. A bus drove us from our hotel in the valley up to about the half-way mark altitude-wise. Lots of shade because the mountains are just so darn huge. This photo overlooks the "Lechtal" - the valley of the Lech River. This is a group photo of the adults we went with. There were 6 of us all together. Fabi and I are not featured in this lovely shot, but you can see Markus and Anja (friends of the family) and Margit and Hansi (the latter being his normal goofy self). Then we have my wonderful Julie Andrews impression. ... and some robustly healthy cows who let us walk right through their grazing space. How the cows made it up to that altitude eludes me, but they were there nontheless, bells a' ringing. Fabian strikes a Tirolan pose at the almost-top.
